The head of the Batkivshchyna political party and a candidate for the post of president of Ukraine Yulia Timoshenko said that the mass emigration of the country’s inhabitants is a threat to national security.

According to statistics from the Ukrainian authorities, currently more than 3 million citizens are constantly working abroad. In addition, about 9 million people are leaving for seasonal earnings.

Statistics show that the majority of Ukrainians seeking employment abroad are going to Poland. The level of payment here is several times higher than at home, but also an order of magnitude lower than in other EU countries, such as Germany or France.

Mostly, those who come to work are employed in the service sector as utility workers or in other low-paid jobs in Poland that do not require high qualifications. Also, people often come for seasonal earnings mainly related to harvesting.

In Poland, Ukrainian workers often face difficulties in receiving a Pole’s card, which is necessary for a proper employment. To do this, you must pass a language exam and undergo a series of bureaucratic procedures.

And the attitude towards the Ukrainians from the Poles is not always unambiguous. The recent deterioration of relations between countries left their mark on people’s relations. After all, many now with the word Ukrainian emerge the image of an aggressive radical in a balaclava and with a bat. Most would not want to have such neighbors, and in this they can be understood.

In addition, the Ukrainians themselves are no longer so glad to once hospitable Poland. In Ukraine, rumors about numerous problems in employment are actively spreading. And they are connected not only with the language barrier. There have been cases when migrant workers were deceived with wages. Some employers simply took away the documents, and they fell into labor slavery.

Against this background, many have begun to move in search of employment in the EU.

At that moment, the German government took up the issue of the shortage of qualified personnel. In this regard, the procedure for issuing a work visa for citizens of countries outside the European Union has been simplified. Considering that there are enough qualified specialists in Ukraine, and the standard of living and income in Germany is much higher than in Poland, the flow of migrants to Poland has significantly decreased in favor of the latter.

Another perspective area of labor migration is the Baltic countries. The level of possible earnings here is similar to Poland, but there is no language barrier. Both in the Baltics and in Ukraine, everyone is fluent in Russian.

Therefore, the flow of looking for earnings of Ukrainians is redistributed from Poland to the west.

But a number of problems await Ukrainians on their way back in search of labor happiness. Loss of seniority will not allow applying for a pension in their homeland. Also, difficulties will arise when applying for subsidies and benefits, pensions and unemployment benefits. Yes, and arrange a loan in the bank also fail.

And here is a double situation. On the one hand, you can go to work in Europe, but lose your pension and subsidies in your own country. On the other – to stay in the hope for a perfect future.

However, the reality shows that more and more Ukrainians are ready to risk and exchange a possible pension in their home country for actual earnings in Europe.
